In the background, you can see the first of newly built apartment buildings and a team of construction workers who are clearing the ground for the next project.
The school is to be built here. The facility is divided into four locations. This includes the school, a mosque, a living and leisure area.
Work on the foundation walls. The facility extends to approximately 1200 m2 and is divided into four areas. The living area is about 400 m2.
The fountains were used festively and painted by local residents. For logistical reasons, each well was named, and the date of commissioning was allocated.
Inauguration of one of the eight wells in Benin, Ghana. Villagers draw water for themselves and their families. The villagers are exceptionally pleased.
There are 150 residential buildings on the complex. In each house, there is room for up to three families.
The boarding school is located at the heart of the complex. Classes take place regularly and all children attend school.
Villagers show neighbourly willingness to help. The villagers are actively involved in the distribution of the food.
Several people live together in a confined space. Laundry is usually still washed by hand. Almost everything is lacking.
The association and residents rely on clothing donations. So far, it has not been possible to secure clothing. However, that should change in the future.
Eating together, distributing hot meals. Unlike in summer, hot meals are essential in the winter period. In planning: a warm canteen will soon offer hot meals on a regular basis.
The residents receive no state support and suffer from high unemployment. As day laborers, many attempt to claim their daily meal.
The residents of Lipjan and the surrounding area (Kosovo) live in the poorest conditions. Windowpanes are replaced by shreds of clothing and these do not offer protection against the cold.
